Tracy McGrady SF 18 6'8" 223 B- B- C+ B- C+ A
Tracy McGrady is being viewed as the next Michael Jordan by many people. He spent his first three years of high school in Florida at Auburndale High School, before transferring to Mt. Zion Christian Academy for this past season, and the results could not have been better. The increased competition, and the increased visibility offered have given scouts a chance to finally rate this teen sensation. McGrady has been dominant against his new high school competition, blowing past defenders and even jumping over one for a dunk. He has interestingly enough been pretty good at blocking shots, not just based on height and athleticism either, but also with his ability to read his opponents jump and get up to block him. He still could use some help with his range, he really doesn't have great NBA range at this point, and probably never will, but givewn time, as you must with most high schoolers, he will develop into a devastating offensive threat, if you believe most scouts. He relies a lot on his athleticism to score inside the paint, and scouts aren't sure whether he should play SG or SF, or maybe even PF, if he grows a bit more, but one thing is sure, he is one of the most athletically gifted players in the league already. There are a few detractors who believe T-Mac fundamentally will be unable to bring much, and that he will always have to rely on his superior athleticism to get baskets, and they worry that he may turn the ball over a lot trying to do too much with the ball. He should be a solid passer, although he won't ever be a good point guard, he can create some for other players. T-mac is still torn on whether or not to declare for the NBA draft this year, or go to North Carolina where his cousin Vince Carter plays basketball. It is believed that T-Mac is leaning toward declaring, and that each is trying to convince the other to follow them.
