The trade deadline has passed and rosters are mostly locked in for the playoffs. Some teams have overachieved while others have underachieved, but if you've earned a playoff spot, you're at least in the hunt.
The following rankings are based on the talent level of each team's top 10 players. To explain a little bit, point values were given to each of the letter grades in the player's attributes (A+ = 60, A = 55, A- = 50, etc). Once the numeric values were set, the following formula was used: (IN + OUT) * 2 + (HAN + REB) * 2 + (DEF) * 2. I rewarded Def the same as Inside and Outside scoring combined simply because you play an equal amount of offense and defense generally, plus "defense wins championships". Potential was not included since it's more of an offseason attribute of improvement/decline, rather than evaluating the current talent level. So, back to the original statement, I took the average of the top 10 players from each team based on this scoring system, since your top 10 players are the ones who would generally see the court (some teams may use 8 or 9, but when injuries or foul trouble happens, that 10th player has to step in). So what I ended up with was an evaluation of the talent level of each team listed below.
Disclaimer: My formula isn't 100% accurate, I didn't go too in depth with it yet, if I place more value for the starters than the reserves, I think a better reading will come out (in store for the future). Also, style of play and production are in no way involved in these rankings.
