So this article is about teams who have positioned themselves to win big not now..but around the 96 season....Sorry if i dont mention your team i am merely highlighting the ones that I think have the best future..
Simply because its the team i know most about...I'm starting off with the Clippers:
I think i have really positioned myself well.
Stanley Roberts: 23 years old. 2 years left on contract..but i will cap room to resign him come the time. 22ppg...10rpg. Stud underneath. I really like his defensive presence
Danny Manning: Fairly young. Killer PF who is very versatile. Around number 7 in the league in scoring. 28 ppg...8rpg..5ass..2stl.
Seems to be the anchor for the team in the future as he is signed for a long time
Alaa Abdelnaby Newly aquired asset who is incredibly consistent around 10 ppg..but comes up big some games. Very versatile and i am comfortable with him at PF, SF, or SG.
Overall i think i have set myself up nicely with a good team in the future...and i am not screwed cap wise.
Sacramento Kings
The best part their team is that they have 2 first round picks this draft...and plenty of cap room to sign some more valuable assets.
Richmond has proven to be a good investment 26 ppg. 4.6 rpg. 3.4 apg. Solid and consistent anchor for the up and coming kings. With some nice big man depth coming up in this draft (it appears to be so), the kings could really set themselves up nicely. Bobby Hurley, 23, is also killing at Pg getting nearly 18 ppg. 3 players on their roster have A potential. If this comes true...watch out. The kings are reigning once again. Great job Kings!
Detroit Pistons
This one just might take a bit longer as they are pretty atrocious right now...but the talent is there and the cap room and first rounders are plentiful. With 22 milli in free cap space..the Pistons can basically get anyone they want to a certain extent. Provided the Gm is a good evaluator of talent...this team could be deadly. A young Jamal Mashburn has proven to be a wise pick. However..Victor seems to be disappointing considering his fairly large contract. The cap space and Picks are there to so some serious damage. Should be fun Pistons! Shoot 'em up. (sorry about the bad puns)
Denver Nuggets
Don't know how i missed these guys the first time. I am predicting in 3-4 years..these guys gonna be great. With two reasonably young centers in Dikembe Mutombo and LaPhonso Ellis, the nuggets are looking good in the Center Position. Even stronger is the rookie..The Bone Man (Sabonis) at PF. This guy is a stud and will only continue to get better for the next 5 years. Providing he stays healthy..he will be great for the future. Glen Rice continues his reign as one of the top Sf's. Solid player with high shooting percentages for a high scorer. At Sg...this is the one weak spot. I would try to get someone who averages about 8 ppg...a few boards..but a GREAT passer. With a scoring PG in Abdul-Rauf, your team lacks a consistent passer. But with Reggie Williams doing some SG duty...he appears to be solid. Most importantly...is that the Nuggets have established all this talent without sacrificing too much cap room or any picks. Great job..Future is gold (another pun)
Good luck to all...I picked my top 3...feel free to comment..argue..promote your team and reason and i might just add them.
Thanks!
