I thought buyouts were immediate. You are probably right though

He goes of the team immediately and the rest of the contract is gone but you have to pay this years salary still

thats like saying trading someone like sedale threat right now for an expiring is tanking cause he could have got more if he waited til the deadline that will depend on who he gets in return for Threat. if it's a drastic downgrade then yes, that is tantamount to tanking, Threat is an expiring btw...

I know threatt's an expiring...thats what made it even worse, he wasn't even getting salary relief for him...just a plain downgrade...he also got 2 2nd round picks so thats fine and i wasn't saying he was tanking i was just making a comparison between the two that if the nique one was than the treatt one was, i personally don't think either is tanking

Sedale is no Nique.....
And if someone offers a contract to a player in the Off season then I think they should have to wait x amount of seasons to buy out that contract. Forces GM's to make more intelligent decisions in the off season.
Other wise this buyout thing can screw over GMs who play the game intelligently and make reasonable contract offers.

I think the difference between what I did and dallas is that I took a much more different route.
A) My team was not winning so I traded my best player. B)Threatt was at best my 4th best player after Vlade, Rony, and Rogers. C)Threatt was never a scoring team Niques was the team for the mavs D)I was not going to resign him in the off season to his 3rd 1 year contract, I was looking for youth. the 2 2nds down the road could provide some (admittedly below average) decent options

Trying to lose and tanking are two different things...Tanking is not playing your best players, trying to lose is getting rid of your best players...He tried to trade Nique, no one offered anything decent, so he bought him out so he could lose...Thats completely within the rules...It's not his duty to you or anyone else to wait til the deadline...He needs to do whats best for his team
