I would just hover around .500 for longer instead of just getting it over with now and rolling with the young guys

There needs to be some buyouts rules. This should be considered tanking since Nique is still a top player.

I don't really see how thats tanking. He had an albatross contract and now they have a ton of cap space to work with this offseason. As long as he uses that money wisely this summer then he'll really help out his team

As long as he uses that money wisely this summer then he'll really help out his team He is 34, so he will likely retire before that contract gets too bad. He is still a 26 ppg scorer who shoots a very good % from downtown. So how isn't is tanking? Anytime you cut a top scorer in the league in hopes to lose more games then you are tanking. He could have gotten something out of Nique.

while i think he could have gotten something probably..he did have an atrocious contract and it was a very reasonable buyout. tanking is not when u purposely make ur team bad by getting bad players or getting rid of good players. tanking to me is not playing ur best players when you have them.

he could have waited until the trade deadline coz someone might have offered something substantial for Nique. instead he buys him out early to ensure he doesn't win anymore games. that to me is tanking.

thats like saying trading someone like sedale threat right now for an expiring is tanking cause he could have got more if he waited til the deadline

Or he's helping his team out buy getting immediate cap space so he can make trades and add on cap space without having to match

you don't get immediate cap space though, Nique's contract for this year stays against the cap, the cap space doesn't come til next year
