1994 Top NBA Rookies - From the Detroit Tribune

1.(3) Pistons-Jason Kidd PG 6'4'' 205 20
Excellent pick by the Pistons how he fell to them at number 3 was very lucky! Jason was expected to be good PG and he delivered 16 pts, 6 rebs, 1.5 steals and 10 assists per game, what a future this young player has in front of him! Jason came in (with a couple of other young Piston players) and lead the Pistons to their first Eastern Conference finals and while they didn’t win they showed just how good they are going to be!
2.(1) Bullets-Chris Webber PF 6'11'' 260 21
The unanimous number 1 pick over all….Chris proved that being great in college will translate to the NBA. He has absolutely great all around skills and is a great player and future HOFer. Chris lead his team by example…20.8 pts, 8.5 rbs and 2.9 assists…well done CWebb we look forward to sophomore campaign!
3.(8) Clippers-Juwan Howard PF 6'9'' 250 22
There were question concerning just how good Juwan would be with out CWebb, well he proved that he has a very bright future with solid numbers for his rookie campaign 16.5 pts, 8.4 rebs and 2.6 assists.
4.(4) Pistons(From Bucks)-Grant Hill SF 6'8'' 225 22
Just edged by Juwan in our Power rankings…Grant Hill was expected to come in and be a top player and he was, paired with Jason Kidd lead to Pistons to their first Eastern Conference finals and while they didn’t win they showed just how good they are going to be. Grant has great upside and after putting up 16.7 pts, 6.5 rebs, 3.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game we are looking forward to see what he can do next year!
5.(2) Hawks-Anfernee Hardaway PG 6'7'' 200 21
Maybe he was a reach at number two but there is no question Penny has a very bright future! Any player that can play 3 positions and excel at each is a phenomenal athlete and showed with 14.2 pts, 5.7 rebs and 4.1 assists that he will be a force at what ever position he settles into!
6.(7) Kings-Glenn Robinson SF 6'8'' 225 21
Glen did what we thought he’d do SCORE but what we didn’t expect that he fall to 7 pick in the draft! He posted 14.7 pts, 6.4 rebs and 2.6 assists very good numbers for a rookie! Glenn has a high ceiling as a scorer now we’d like to see him improve his defensive game…well done Glenn in your strong rookie campaign!
7.(17) Mavs- Eric Montross C 7'0'' 275 23
One of the biggest surprises of the draft, Eric wasn’t supposed to be this good (as a rookie) but then again he played at North Carolina, in a high pressure situations and delivered we love what he did this year and while he may not have the ceiling of other in the is draft if he keeping putting up these numbers he will have a very good pro career! So what did he do? How does 11.0 pts, 10.2 rebs, 1.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.1 blocks…well done Mr Montross!
8.(11) Bulls (From Hawks)-Eddie Jones SG 6'5'' 209 22
Another player that changed teams during the year, Eddie has found a spot in Portland to really make a name for himself, they are young and have lots of money to spend look for Eddie to have another great year on offense and efense. Posted 10.7 pts, 7.8 rebs, 3.3 assist and 1.4 steals…wow!
9.(10) Warriors-Donyell Marshall PF 6'9'' 218 20
Taken just outside the lotto Donyell proves to be a great pick and solid value at 10, we love his length and inside/outside game! Posted 9.1 pts, 7.8 rebs and 2.6 assists we predict a great off season and big leap in his game!
10.(9) Nets to Suns-Jalen Rose SF 6'8'' 210 21
Another player that changed teams during the season, The Suns landed a exceptional athlete who has the ability to play multiple positions and can fill up the stats sheet. We really like the upside in Jalen and with rookie numbers like these 8.0 pts, 6.5 rebs, 2.9 assist and 1.0 steals it would appear that the skies the limit…
11.(15) Sonics-Wesley Person SG 6'6'' 195 22 C+ B+ C+ C- C B
Was considered a late lotto pick before the draft and slipped a bit but the eventual team to land him via trade (the Sonics) were the big winner here. Wesley posted great numbers on a loaded Sonics team posting 9.0 pts, 5.7 rebs and 2.5 assists…well done we look forward to seeing you develop!
12.(23) Cavs-Eric Mobley PF 6'11'' 250 22 C+ C C+ C+ C+ B
Great pick at 23 and showed he belongs in the NBA. Posted excellent numbers in a backup role with 8.4pts, 5.9 rebs and 2.1 assists. Well done!
13.(24) Cavs-Eric Piatkowski SG 6'7'' 215 22 C- B+ C+ C- C- B
Proving once again a shooter will always have a spot in the NBA and an excellent pick at 24! Eric would never have guessed he would have come in the NBA and play starters minutes and prove that despite his assumed limitations (athletically) that he can perform at this level. Eric posted 8.5 pts, 4.3 rebs and 2.2 assists for a solid rookie campaign.

Very solid rookie campaign and proved his doubters that while he may not have ideal size can still score and create for others. Rookie numbers 6.5 pts, 5.4 rebs and 2.2 assists good luck next year Khalid!
